HE more communities do to organise themselves in the fight against crime, the better protected they are against any criminal attack. This, according to criminalist Dr Rudolph Zinn of the department of police practice at Unisa's College of Law.
Zinn, who has been interviewing violent criminals in the country's prisons for the past 11 years, said while the best way of combating crime is for the police to have a successful arrest and conviction rate, in South Africa the safer communities are those who organise themselves against criminals.
